Description
Sometimes, a paper airplane is just a paper airplane, and sometimes, it's a little bit more. This is a folded paper airplane made from MAD Magazine Issue #148. I have a lot of these magazines in my collection, but I am not a collector in the classic sense. In fact, I'm not a collector in a very good sense at all. My goal was not to own a whole lot of precious magazines, I just like reading them and pretty much losing myself in the humor of the time.
In fact most true collectors would be horrified if they saw the condition of my collection. But I did read these, and for the most part, they stayed in good shape, considering how many times I read them over and over. Now I make paper airplanes from them. Go figure.
This is "Appropriation Art", or at least it's my version of it. It's a tribute to my youth, and the time I spent reading trashy magazines. They were damn good trashy magazines though!
As an aside, you should know that this is a parody of issue No. 148, January, 1972, with a cover price of .40 cents, and has an Alfred E. Neuman illustration by Norman Mingo on the cover. -YoPedro
